Plan to Build a New Church
Ministry: Looking to the future is much harder than looking to the past. Our ancestors took that harder step. They left a little yellow brick church and a small white frame church to construct together our current building because they saw the need of the future. That was in 1927. As a result their ministry grew to meet the needs of this growing community. We have the same challenge.
Why a new building? Problems concerning program limitations, deterioration of the structure, handicap accessibility, safety codes, and limited parking lead us in this direction.
Why not renovate? An engineering study indicated renovations would cost more than a new building. Parking would continue to be problematic. And we would still have an old building.
New Property is breathtaking! Located on highway #21, it is 4.1 acres of beautiful mature trees and a breathtaking view overlooking the Ausable River. It’s a great place for our outside services. And debt free!
New Church Building Fund. If you wish to donate, this is the fund’s name. It is controlled by the Trustees. Donations are confidential.
Design: Ten thousand square feet are all on one floor. A sanctuary takes up half of the building. Offices, classrooms, kitchen, chapel, and reception rooms take up the other half.
Financial Plan: Pledges are encouraged. No one is being asked for a particular sum; that is a personal decision. A recognition wall will recognize the names of all who contribute a minimum.
Fundraising Activities: Each team (committee) in the church is challenged to raise funds; there are BBQ’s, silent auctions, concerts, and theatrical plays. Individuals have stepped up to help; they have donated items for raffles, and have made articles for sale. Everyone is invited to participate in the grocery card project. You can buy groceries at any Loblaws or Sobeys stores (or affiliates), and at the same time make a contribution and get a personal tax credit all at the same time.
May 2011: That is the target date to begin construction – God willing.
