More About Us

  • More on Grand Bend ... A community of faith that is active in caring for others and for our environment as well as taking care of our internal ministries and church facilities. We have an excellent choir, a small but faithful prayer team, a committed lay leadership, a supportive women's groups with opportunities and encouragement for other women's groups to form. We have several ongoing local mission endeavours (see "How we Work").

The town of Grand Bend is situated in Southwestern Ontario on the shores of Lake Huron. Our community straddles both Lambton County and Huron County and has a year round population of about 6,000. That popuation triples and quadruples during the summer months. There are a lot of community programs and activities. A busy community health centre, several great restaurants, the theatrical experience of Huron Country Playhouse, and the natural splendours of Pinery Provincial Park all within easy access. A local farmer's market operates every Wednesday from the long weekend in May until Thanksgiving weekend in October. Go to www.GrandBendTourism.com.

Our current church building lies at the corner of Main and Queen Streets and has a small elevator lift in the front entrance. It was built in 1927 and has a lovely sanctuary that seats about 170.

  • One of the traditions we inherited from our ancestors in faith, was the conduct of outdoor services of worship during July and August.  We continue to do so up until Labour Day weekend in September.  There's somehting quite moving and soul-warming about worshipping in casual attire in our "Green Cathedral".  Each week of these summer services, we feature special musical guests who inspire us with their uplifting ministry.

More on Greenway  ... You don’t have to live here twenty-five years or more to belong. There is an annual yard and bake sale on the long weekend in May and a fabulous ham and strawberry supper on the second Saturday in June.  Our minister currently keeps office hours from 1 to 3 p.m. on most Wednesday afternoons.  Built in 1892 on the anniversary of John Wesley’s death, originally a Methodist house of worship, it became part of the United Church of Canada in 1925.  There is a quiet, respectful, and traditional feel to worship here.  Sunday School is offered when needed and students have been sitting on little red chairs during their lesson time for over 90 years.  Our small, but faithful congregation at present, is a caring, welcoming, and dedicated community of faith.
