More on Grand Bend ... A community of faith that is active in caring for others and for our environment as well as taking care of our internal ministries and church facilities. We have an excellent choir, a small but faithful prayer team, a committed lay leadership, a supportive women's group with opportunities and encouragement for other women's groups to form. We have several ongoing local mission endeavors (see "How we Work").
The town of Grand Bend is situated in Southwestern Ontario on the shores of Lake Huron. Our community straddles both Lambton County and Huron County and has a year round population of about 6,000. That popuation triples and quadruples during the summer months. There are a lot of community programs and activities. A busy community health centre, several great restaurants, the theatrical experience of Huron Country Playhouse, and the natural splendours of Pinery Provincial Park all within easy access. A local famer's market operates every Wednesday from the long weekend in May until Thanksgiving weekend in October. Go to www.GrandBendTourism.com.
Our current church building lies at the corner of Main and Queen Streets and has a small elevator lift in the front entrance. It was built in 1927 and has a lovely santuary that seats about 170.
One of the traditions we inherited from our ancestors in faith, was the conduct of outdoor services of worship during July and August. We continue to do so up until Labour Day weekend in September. There's somehting quite moving and soul-warming about worshipping in casual attire in our "Green Cathedral". Each week of these summer services, we feature special musical guests who inspire us with their upliting ministry.
